An AI watchdog for your parents' finances
Manfred is Zoninga's monitoring agent. Every morning he checks the accounts your parents choose to share and tells the family what looks off. Maybe a new $89.99 subscription nobody remembers starting, or an electric bill that posted twice. Bank access is read-only through Plaid, and Zoninga never moves your money.
Free to create an account. Family monitoring runs on Premium, $9.99 a month, and one subscription covers the whole family.
Quiet week at your mom's, with two things to look at. TotalShield Plus started charging her checking $89.99 a month on Tuesday. The electric bill posted twice, $214.60 each time. Rent of $1,840 is covered through Friday.
A sample brief. The numbers are illustrative.
What the morning check covers
- New recurring charges, and price creep on old ones
- Bills that posted twice
- Spending that breaks the usual pattern
- Balances running low ahead of scheduled bills
- Activity on accounts that are normally quiet
- Bank connections that stopped syncing
Detection is best-effort. Manfred flags what the checks can see, and the family makes the call.
How it works
- You create your account and a family group, and subscribe to Premium. One subscription covers the whole family.
- You invite your parent. They create their account straight from the invitation and link their bank read-only through Plaid. Manual entry works too.
- They share the accounts they choose with the family, view-only. Nothing is visible until they share it.
- Manfred checks the shared accounts each morning and sends the family a short brief. Any transfer that follows happens at your parent's own bank, made by your parent.
Built so a careful family can say yes
Read-only bank access
Accounts link through Plaid. Zoninga stores no bank passwords, and nobody can spend through the app.
Zoninga never moves your money
There is no transfer button here. Money moves only at the bank, by the account holder.
Encrypted at rest
Account names and transaction details are encrypted in our database.
Two-factor sign-in
TOTP two-factor authentication protects the account, and bank linking requires it.
Your data is not for sale
We never sell user data. The subscription is the business.
Honest limits
Monitoring is best-effort detection. No alert system catches everything, and Manfred gives no investment advice.
Questions families ask
Does my parent need to be comfortable with technology?
Linking a bank takes a few minutes in a browser, and most families do it together on one visit. Accounts can also be tracked by hand while everyone warms up.
Can more than one of us watch?
Yes. A family group holds multiple members, and everyone invited sees the same shared accounts.
Can Manfred, or anyone else, move money through Zoninga?
No. Access is read-only, and the app has no way to send a payment or a transfer. Your parent moves money at their own bank, the way they always have.
Do we need a power of attorney to set this up?
No. Your parent keeps their own account, links their own bank, and chooses what the family sees. Watching shared information takes no legal authority, and the app has no way to act on your parent's behalf. Families that hold a POA can use it the way they normally would.
What does it cost?
Family monitoring runs on Zoninga Premium: $9.99 a month, or $79.99 a year. The subscription is yours, and it covers the whole family group. Your parent pays nothing. A free plan for basic tracking exists too.
